Eating a lot of sugar damages your health!

Be it a special occasion, get-together, holiday, weekend, or even the announcing of some great news. All of these feel incomplete in the absence of sweets or desserts! We find sugary treats everywhere nowadays and many of us eat sugar with every meal. Did you know that sugary foods/drinks when consumed too much, have a bitter effect on your health? Sugar in excessive amounts causes a wide range of health problems and affects your immunity levels negatively.

Here are some problems that are caused when you consume an excessive amount of added sugar:

  • Weight gain and obesity
  • Tooth decay
  • Mood disorders
  • High blood pressure
  • Poor sleep quality
  • Digestive problems
  • Fatty liver
  • Skin breakouts
  • Weakened immunity

Sweets/desserts in a small amount do not harm us, but an overload of sugary food is dangerous to our health. For these reasons, it is important that we keep our consumption of sweetened food and beverages at a minimum and focus on consuming a healthy diet that has a balance of nutrients. Limiting the amount of sugar in our diet or having moderate amounts of sugar and developing mindful eating habits help in controlling our intake of sugars.
