Did you know that happiness is a mindset? Do you live your life anticipating something that could make you happy? If you do so, you could miss living in the present, which is essential to experience the joy of living.
Finding Happiness

As quoted my Mahatma Gandhi, “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
When you try to find happiness in people, situations, relationships, accomplishments, or other external pursuits, you give power to external factors to influence the way you feel and control your life. As a result, your contentment in life relies entirely on something that’s not in your control, which can make you feel anxious or distressed.
To find solace in the present requires effort and consistency in one’s daily habits and routine. Do not drown yourself in the thoughts of the past or be anxious about the unpredictable future. Rather, grow everyday with lessons learned from the past and efforts to create a better future. This will keep you from depending on others for being content in life.
Giving cheerfully

The bible says, “whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.“
To always be on the receiving end and not consider being a giver in daily life can’t bring you joy.
Consider giving in small and simple ways. When you visit somebody, do you think of what could make them glad? Do you consider bringing a smile to people’s faces with tiny gestures? Have you wondered how you could touch the lives of those in need by providing for them?
Practice kindness, selflessness, service to others, and generosity in daily life so that you will be able to give cheerfully and not forcefully.
The state of mind

The quality and direction of one’s life depend on the state of one’s mind.
A balanced state of mind that doesn’t dwell on negative experiences or feel overwhelmed with happiness but is able to stay calm and composed in every state of life requires practice and effort throughout life.
Prayer, meditation, mindfulness, and discipline in everyday life enable one to develop noble qualities such as humility, tolerance, resilience, honesty, wisdom, patience, and perseverance, which influence one’s state of mind positively and help one find peace and happiness.
Without virtues, our happiness could be superficial, without getting deep into the heart, and fade away quickly as situations keep changing in life. Virtues, when cultivated in life, help you balance your mind and attain discernment required to choose the right direction and make the right decisions.
An uncontrolled mind cannot navigate correctly through the varying circumstances of life. It could lead to dissatisfaction with oneself and others.
Inner growth

Living a meaningful and value-driven life brings contentment throughout the journey. Focusing on your inner growth helps you find meaning and purpose in life, which acts as a catalyst for change as you navigate through different phases of life.
A journey of personal growth doesn’t let you stagnate on the path. Rather, it keeps you moving and growing at your own pace and helps you become accepting of yourself with each passing day.
As you find your purpose through inner growth, the pressures of life do not influence you negatively. Instead, they help you learn tolerance and direct you towards self-improvement.
Gratitude

Being thankful could be an option, but it profoundly boosts one’s happiness. Appreciating what you have is essential to counting your blessings and practicing gratitude.
As you express gratitude, you develop the quality of being optimistic, which enhances positive emotions, improving your overall well-being.
